You may have heard that the newest Damascena Coffee House opened its doors in the Jewellery Quarter in late 2019. Making it the fourth Damascena Coffee House in Birmingham!
For us, the picturesque location of Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter was a no-brainer. Much like the combination of hummus and flatbread, it just makes sense.
At Damascena, we don’t take the location of our coffee houses lightly. We like to choose a place we know will benefit the most from our authentic delivery of delicious Middle-Eastern food.
As such, we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on why the Jewellery Quarter is such an ideal place. Particularly as we expand and continue to provide customers with our unparalleled service and captivating Middle-Eastern style.

Today, it is still very much in operation and produces over 40% of the UK’s jewellery! The Quarter also hosts a vast array of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, small businesses and creative enterprises.
From museums and galleries to Birmingham’s oldest cemeteries (Key Hill and Warstone Lane), it’s easy to see why the local community holds so much pride for the area.
The architecture of the Jewellery Quarter is, much like the decor inside a Damascena, inherently striking and not easily forgotten. Making the Jewellery Quarter a unique destination not just in Birmingham, but also throughout the world! A visit should be on the to-do list of anyone looking to understand the authentic culture and history of the city.
Far from being left to fall into disrepair, there are multiple projects currently underway to restore JQ’s many historic structures. Further protecting over 200 listed buildings in the area.
For example, there’s the JQ Cemeteries Project, carefully restoring the centuries-old grave sites and catacombs. Alongside the Townscape Heritage Project, regenerating many historic buildings – both of which are operated by the JQDT.
The Perfect Match
The unique and quirky look of the Jewellery Quarter, combined with its authentic feel and the community’s true passion for development, means the Damascena team is right at home here.
